*Implemented the use of electronic monitoring devices for some
offenders. This option allows offenders to work or tend to medical
conditions while serving their sentence. They are subject to several
restrictions and have to pay for their monitoring fees. This has
helped reduce the cost of incarceration.  

*Helped negotiate contract with collection agency to collect past-due
fines due to municipality.

*Formed the Community Impact Panel as an outlet for younger,
first-time offenders to get court-ordered guidance from established
members of the community.

*Pursued grant funds to help with the hiring of personnel and
purchase of software for court staff

*Expanded the Vicksburg Domestic Violence Victims' Empowerment
Program to include more community outreach, more defendant
accountability and more services for victims of domestic violence.  

*Continued and extended the amnesty period which allows offenders
to satisfy old warrants without being arrested.

Among the initiatives taken by Judge Toni Walker Terrett:

speakers known locally, statewide and nationally
